Morden library has launched a new coding club for children to attend every weekend to use their creative imaginations.

The new coding club will start today as part of National Libraries Day where libraries in Merton are offering a variety of activities.

The goal of the club is to inspire children to build and share their ideas whilst learning about programming along the way.

Not only does the club offer an insight into scratch and web development but also problem solving, planning, designing and collaboration.

Since we are now living in the digital age, learning these vital skills can be transferred into their schooling and also in their later life in their chosen career paths.

Learning to code is not just for children who wish to become website developers, it can become a favourite hobby, strengthen problem solving skills, logical thinking skills and is useful for a range of other disciplines.

Children will be able to make their own games and animations and the club is suitable for children aged seven to 14 years-old.

The club at Morden library will be running for four weeks and is free to attend for all children and will be held at the library in the Civic Centre, London Road, Morden.

The club will run each Saturday from 2.30 to 3.30pm. To book a place, contact 020 8545 4040.
