He is the seventh man to be arrested as part of the ongoing investigation and was due to appear before Wimbledon magistrates this morning.

Officers were called on Monday last week to reports of a mass brawl involving up to 40 men in Mitcham town centre.

The murder investigation was launched after the victim, who had been found suffering head injuries died in hospital a couple of days later.

A post-mortem examination was held at St George's hospital on Friday, November 27, which gave cause of death as a head injury.

Six men aged 34, 21, 37, 40, 27 and 21, have previously been arrested in connection with the brawl and remain bailed to return to south London police stations in early December.

Two other men, a 26-year-old and a 29-year-old, also received serious injuries and were still in hospital at the end of last week, although their condition is not thought to be critical.

Detectives asked anyone with information about the fight to call 020 8721 4205, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
