An improvised car battery thought to be suspect package sparked security fears in Wimbledon town centre last night.
Firefighters and Metropolitan police officers were called to the Hartfield Road area by Morrisons in Wimbledon just before midnight last night after reports a suspect package was found there.
Merton police have since tweeted to reveal that the package was an improvised car battery.

A Met spokesman said the suspect package was dealt with by the emergency services but would not go into detail about what had happened.
He said it turned out to be a false alarm.
Firefighters from Wimbledon station were called as a back-up but did not need to take any action.
