Police have confirmed that axes and a sword were used in a mass fight in Mitcham which left three men hospitalised including one fighting for his life.

Wimbledon Times:

A 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder following the fight in Holborn Way at Monday, November 23. He remains in custody in a south London police station.

A 26-year-old man who was found there with serious head injuries is still in hospital in a critical condition. His injuries have been described as life threatening.

Two other men, a 26-year-old and a 29-year-old, also received serious injuries and are still in hospital, although their condition is not thought to be critical.

Wimbledon Times:

Five men that were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder following the fight have all been bailed to dates later this month.

The men are aged 21, 27, 34, 37 and 40.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to Holborn Way to reports of a fight involving a large group of men at 7.17pm.

Police kept the area cordoned off for the whole day yesterday.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Trident Gang and Area Crime Command are investigating.
