13 October: UPDATED: Pedestrian hospitalised after being hit by a van at Churston Drive in Hillcross Avenue, Morden

This is the same stretch of road which led to calls for safety in April last year after a three-year-old girl was struck by a car outside Hillcross Primary School in Ashridge Way, leading from Hillcross Avenue and close to Churston Drive.

At the time, parents and councillors expressed concern over the levels of traffic and congestion that occurred during school pick up and drop off hours.

The female pedestrian was hit by the van at around 3.30pm.

Hillcross Avenue was closed by the police following the crash, and was reopened at 5.45pm.

A spokesman for the police said: "There was a light collision between a van and a female pedestrian in her 40s.

"Her injuries have been described as superficial.

"The driver of the van stopped at the scene and was not arrested."
