Budding nature-lovers from Colliers Wood quizzed children’s TV presenter, author and all-round wildlife expert Steve Backshall.

The children, from Singlegate Primary School, took part in the question and answer session at Wimbledon BookFest, as part of a National Trust initiative called 50 Things to do Before You’re 11 and 3/4.

Executive headteacher Nathalie Bull said: "We were delighted that the Deadly 60's presenter was more than happy to help the year four children complete some of the 50 things on the list."

The 50 Things to do Before You’re 11 and ¾ initiative aims to encourage children to spend more time exploring outdoors, and create more awareness about the importance of the environment.

The list includes challenges ranging from stargazing and flying kites to building dens and climbing trees.

Mr Backshall, who has previously competed on Strictly Come Dancing, took part in Wimbledon BookFest to talk about his career as a wildlife expert and his new book Mountain: A Life On The Rocks.
