Local people have taken part in a worldwide movement against climate change.

A total of 23 people joined a People’s Pilgrimage march in Morden Hall Park on Sunday, October 11, to call for more to be done to counter climate change, ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December.

Juliet Boyd, who organised the march, said: "I think it went well. I had no idea who was going to come and I was pleased with the turn-out.

"We’re trying to convince them to make a good decision in December.

"Climate change isn’t going to affect me, but I have got grandchildren and I care about the world they are going to grow up in."

The People’s Pilgrimage, which describes itself as ‘an open source response from the human heart to the climate crisis’, encourages people to hold a number of marches around the world which it then plots on a map.

Taking part on Sunday were people from all faiths, and community groups including Sustainable Merton.
