A bearded dragon who went missing after jumping out of a window near a school has been found.

From Friday: Bearded dragon on the loose in Putney

Bernard, the 12-inch grey-brown reptile fled his home in Carlton Drive near Putney High School at about 2pm on Wednesday, September 2.

Concerned owner Sally Nielsen alerted Putney residents by putting up signs near the school asking people to look out for him in their garden sheds and to take care when lawn-mowing.

After a false sighting and a number of phone calls from well-wishers offering help, Bernard re-appeared on Ms Nielsen’s lawn on Saturday morning.

The mother-of-two said: "I’m over the moon. Thank you to everyone who’s been looking for him. I couldn’t believe it when I found him.

"He was cold but he didn't look thin or ill, just a bit cold. So I put him straight under the light."

She said she is keeping the window closed from now on.

"I couldn't go through that again", she said.
