Two entrepreneurs overwhelmed with the success of a crowdfunding campaign have launched a new fruity drink.

Craig Jones and David Folkman met while working at Innocent Drinks before leaving the company to go it alone.

Elderbrook Cordial Tonics was born, but it was a crowdfunding campaign, originally set at a £10,000 target, which made it possible.

Wimbledon Times:

In fact, the pair smashed the target and raised £11,160 in 28 days - putting them in the top four per cent of all crowdfunding campaigns ever, according to the company.

Mr Folkman, 39, of Pelham Road, Wimbledon, and business partner Mr Jones, of Carters Road, Epsom, can already count 200 people UK-wide among their new customers after the launch party on Wednesday, August 26.

Mr Jones said the idea began in October last year and is now a full time job. He said: "We are still in the early stages.

"I'm chuffed to have got to this stage.

"We want to make it more available for people - that's the plan."

The dedicated businessmen want to keep the business local, and currently work partly from Mr Jones' Epsom shed and partly from the Wimbletech space at Wimbledon Library, and source the glass bottles from Morden company Croxsons.

They source ingredients for the cordials, described as superfood enriched cordials, delivered fortnightly through the post, including mango, from all over the world.
