A man was shot in a Waitrose car park last night.

Police have taped off part of the supermarket car park in Coombe Lane, Raynes Park, while officers investigate.

The man was shot in the leg and taken to hospital after first traveling to an address in Surrey.

The Met was called by Surrey Police at 12.40am to reports of the shooting and the man was taken to a south London hospital.

His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

He has since discharged himself from hospital.

No arrests have been made.

Officers from the Met's Trident Command are investigating.

The supermarket was closed during the incident.

A Waitrose spokesman said: "Waitrose Raynes Park is open today from 8am to 9pm and we'll support the police in any way we can.

"Our customer car park is open, but spaces are limited this morning as the police conduct their investigations."
