A 17-year-old man was stabbed in Mitcham last night.

It is the second stabbing in Merton in less than a week after another 17 year-old was taken to hospital on Saturday with a stab wound to the leg.

He is recovering after the incident in St Helier Avenue, Morden.

The latest victim was found by police with multiple stab wounds on the Armfield Crescent estate at about 9.45pm last night.

Paramedics treated the teenager outside Paxton Court, a block of flats near London Road.

He was taken to a central London hospital where he was in a stable condition this morning.

No arrests have been made.

A woman who lives on the estate, but did not want to be named, said: "I heard a boy screaming. 

"I thought to call the police but I didn't know what was going on. 

"Then the ambulance and police came and I knew something had happened.

"I couldn't sleep last night. The area is really dangerous. Who is coming and helping?"

July 1: Mitcham stabbing: Two teenagers, 16, arrested

Last month, a 16-year-old was stabbed outside Iceland in Mitcham town centre. 

He was taken to hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

Two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
