The New Horizon Centre will host a Bring out the Best Graduation Ceremony on Friday, July 31, to launch a new programme of activities and honour its intake of students.
Students at the centre in Pollards Hill will be given awards in a variety of categories, including the Against All Odds Claudia Landa award, and the Jenny Hill Community Champion award, named after former chairman Jenny Hill who died in August last year.
Naomi Martin, director of the Commonside Trust at the New Horizon Centre, is Claudia’s mother, and wanted to honour her memory with an award because she said her daughter achieved a lot against the odds.
The ceremony comes after a memorial event on the anniversary of Claudia's death this year, where friends released balloons and lanterns in her memory.
