More than 100 schoolchildren from eight groups will take to the stage together for a spectacular show at the New Wimbledon Theatre (NWT) next month.

The very best of Merton’s young talent will share eight compelling stories of love, bravery, protest and conflict interspersed with cutting edge video design and projected images.

It is the third year the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust and the theatre have collaborated on the project, this time to create an original performance inspired by the classic satirical musical play, Oh What a Lovely War.

Created by the same team which brought you East & West last year, Truce claims to be the first ever production onstage at NWT to use cutting-edge video design techniques and projected images, which will be integrated with the live action on stage.

Creative pupils from Cricket Green School, Harris Academy Merton, Harris Academy Morden, Perseid School, Ricards Lodge High School, Rutlish School, SHINE Merton Saturday School and Uptown UK will star.

NWT’s creative learning manager, Andy Alty said: "Everyone here at NWT is enormously excited about this year’s production. If you are interested in experiencing the future of theatre for yourself- then this is the show to see."

The production is directed by Kate McGregor with video design by award winning designer and audio/visual specialist Dan Shorten.

The production designer is Carla Goodman, who has worked at the Young Vic and Arcola Theatre.

Choreography is by Sita Thomas who has over eight years of experience with the National Youth Theatre producing work in the West End, UK regional theatres and internationally.

TRUCE, New Wimbledon Theatre, 93 The Broadway, Wimbledon, Wednesday, July 15, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5.
