A three-year-old boy is lucky not to have died when he fell from a third-storey window on Friday.
London Ambulance was called to Glebe Court in Mitcham just after 3pm and treated the boy, who was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting.
An air ambulance was also called and landed in Upper Green East.
But the helicopter left after it was understood the child's injuries were not life-threatening and he was taken to hospital by road.
No arrests were made. Merton police has yet to confirm if it is investigating the incident.
A Met spokeswoman said: "Police were called by LAS to Glebe Court at 3.12pm on May 22 to reports of a three-year-old child having fallen from a third floor window.
"His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
Sam Fryer, a mother-of-three who lives on the third floor of the estate, was not at home when the child fell and said she does not know the family involved.
But she said: "I don't have my childrens' bedroom windows open. I have a fear of them pushing the handle and going out. My childrens' window leads straight down to the floor."
Circle Housing Merton Priory, which manages the estate, said the family are leaseholders.
The housing association has yet to comment on whether it is investigating safety issues on the estate.
