A woman from Wimbledon was among 15 people to be awarded South West Trains’ first ever I Make the Difference customer service awards at the Kia Oval, by Rachel Dickerson.

Georgina Morris, 28, a guard at Wimbledon station, won the Performance Champion award at the event, receiving a certificate and cash prize.

She said: "I am both delighted and shocked to have won this award. I love the challenge of my job and making a difference to our passengers by making sure their services run on time.

"I like to see a smile on their face and if I can help achieve that, then I'm happy."

Georgina is one of 2,500 personnel who work for South West Trains customer service department.

Keith Hawkins, guards manager at Wimbledon said: "Georgina has been central to the implementation of new projects and is a real asset to the team."

"She has a fun approach in getting the job done and has stepped up to fill in during periods of staff shortages to avoid cancellations."

Awards were given to employees working as guards, gate line staff, community, environmental, performance and safety champions and security personnel in 15 categories on Friday, March 27.
