A terrified man woke up to find four masked men with a gun in his bedroom demanding cash a court heard this morning.

Farid Yebbou was in bed at his ground floor flat in Woodley Close, Mitcham, when two men from Balham and two from Hackney burst in shouting ‘Where's the money?', Kingston Crown Court was told.

Stephen Shay, prosecuting, said the men's faces were covered.

He told the jury of seven women and four men: "One of the men was holding a pistol.

"The men rolled Mr Yebbou on to his front.

"He could feel something hard being pushed against his head through a pillow.

"They were shouting 'where's the money?' but Mr Yebbou said he did not have any."

Still face down, Mr Yebbou heard noises in another room and realised the men were no longer in his bedroom, the court heard.

Mr Shay told the court he jumped out of his bedroom window in boxer shorts and a t shirt and spotted four men on Arnold Road.

Their faces were no longer covered and one was carrying a suitcase taken from his bedroom.

Mr Yebbou grabbed it and there was a struggle in the street, captured on CCTV footage shown to the court today.

In it was his laptop and phone, both of which had been in his bedroom, the prosecution said.

It is alleged all four men ran off down London Road and got in Gary Mowatt's BMW which was parked in Heaton Road.

Police found a gun, a 7.62mm self loading pistol, in the front seat.

Three of the defendants were arrested by police nearby with Peter Nunes arrested half an hour later in the back garden of a home.

The robbery took place at about 11.30am on October 16 last year.

Mr Mowatt , 40, of Laura Place, Hackney, has denied dangerous driving, possession of a firearm and robbery.

Sylvanus Scott, 39, of Balham Grove, Balham, Kevin Rodgers, 41, of White Hart Lane, Tottenham, and Mr Nunes, 38, of Honeybrook Road, Balham, all denied robbery and possession of a firearm.

The case continues.
