A new martial arts club with classes in different languages and disciplines will be launched next month.

Rico Romero, who is a black sash in Kung Fu, a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and black belt in Hapkido, is opening the club in south Wimbledon for children and adults.

The Kung Fu syllabus will be conducted in Chinese, the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes are in Portuguese, and soon the club will be providing Grapple ‘N’ Strike classes in Spanish. Korean classes may arrrive in the future.

Stronger Fitness and Martial Arts describes itself as an elite training facility offering world class fitness to children and adults.

The studio in Lyon Road on the Lombard Road industrial estate, has been kitted out with new equipment including punch bags, a cage fighting cage and changing facilities.

Mr Romero said: "I want the club to have a family feel.

"We will cater for everyone, and even have a children’s liaison officer to make sure everyone is happy."

The area has a wealth of kickboxing and martial arts clubs, including Holistic Fitness in Broadway Court, Wimbledon, the Wimbledon Kickboxing and Boxing Club in Wimbledon Park and KickFit Martial Arts in Wimbledon.

The club will open on Saturday, March 28, with the official launch taking place on Saturday, April 11, where Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond will be learning some moves.

The gym will also receive a blessing from Vicar Reverend Clive Gardner, from St Mark's church in Wimbledon.

Members of the public are invited to attend.
