A man and woman at the centre of a "domestic murder" inquiry have been named locally as Linda and Ray Mills.

Police were called to a terraced house in Stanley Avenue on the edge of New Malden and Motspur Park at 1.17pm yesterday.

They found a woman in her 60s dead inside the house.

They arrested a man, aged 65, believed to be Raymond Mills, on suspicion of murder.

A man was seen being wheeled out of the house yesterday afternoon with blood on his head and was taken to hospital.

He has not been charged.

Police are said to have told residents yesterday they were treating the incident as a "domestic murder" inquiry.

Neighbours painted a picture of a couple who 'kept themselves to themselves' having lived in the quiet residential street for more than 20 years.

Pathologists in blue suits were at the £400,000 property overnight bagging personal items.

The curtains were drawn but a light was on in an upstairs window yesterday evening.

Police tape remained in place this morning and the pathology team were at the address, neighbours said.

The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Reeves, Homicide and Major Crime Command.
