Pensioners will prove they're still young at art when they stage an exhibition at their Merton sheltered home.
The show comes off the back of a scheme to create a bond between tenants of Blackham House and encourage their creativity.
The project has raised the morale of the residents, who are excited to show the work they have created with artist Freya Douglas-Morris.
"You have no idea how much it has benefited the tenants, it’s something they all look forward to," says scheme manager Jean Dodd.
The communal area of the house will be permanently turned into a gallery, exhibiting 16 acrylic paintings made by residents, who are over 55.
The selection will reflect the diverse nature of the group’s members as well as showcasing their individual and collective interests.
They will also showcase the styles the group has studied under Mrs Douglas-Morris, including landscape, abstract and still life studies.
Mrs Douglas-Morris is an acclaimed London-born artist, whose work has recently been featured at the Saatchi Gallery and MOT International.
Young at Heart Painting will open at Blackham House, Raymond Road, Wimbledon, from 3-5pm, on Wednesday, February 18, and visitors are also welcome on all working days until February 27 from 10am-3pm.
