People concerned about the impact of the controversial proposed development of the Rainbow Industrial Estate in Raynes Park, can air their concerns at a public meeting on Monday night.

Wimbledon Liberal Democrats parliamentary spokesperson Shas Sheehan has organised the meet-up among fears the development will jeopardise road saftey in the area.

The public are also anxious about overdevelopment, as the plans will mean all businesses based there will be uprooted to make way for up 229 homes and 130 car parking spaces.

According to Ms Sheehan the new builds will not contribute to Merton Council's aim of 40 per cent affordable housing.

A proposed “kiss and ride” facility, where people can be dropped off by car before hopping on public transport, has led to fears a bottle neck will be created and traffic flow problems will be intensified.

Ms Sheehan has launched a petition to oppose the development, which can be viewed here: http://shassheehan.org.uk/en/petition/petition-to-oppose-current-plans-to-develop-the-rainbow-industrial-estate
