Shopkeepers and a customer were left with head injuries after a brutal attack when three men burst into a small shop and stole money from the till.

Ghanshyam Patel, 56, said his wife, who was knocked unconscious in the raid, is out of hospital and recovering well after the terrifying robbery on New Year’s Eve.

Mrs Patel, who was treated for a bleed on the brain in hospital, had come to her husband’s aid as he was attacked by a man dressed in a hooded top and dark clothes.

Police want to speak to the men in the pictures and are appealing for information on the robbery which occurred at 5.45pm at the couple’s shop Mitcham Food and Wine in London Road, Mitcham.

Two other men then walked into the shop before one of them attacked a customer. All three men took money from the till and other items from behind the counter before fleeing.
