A 22-year-old man who groped a woman on a crowded train on Halloween as it arrived at Clapham Junction has been given a suspended 20-week prison sentence and put on the sex offenders register.

Borja De Zuloaga, of Norman Road, Wimbledon, targeted the 26-year-old woman on a 7.30pm service from Imperial Wharf.

She felt someone brushing their hand over her bottom.

At first she thought it was an accident, but she felt his fingers pressing into her left thigh over her tights.

He moved his hand under her dress and then stroked her bottom, although she tried to move.

When the train arrived at Clapham Junction, she twisted around and grabbed hold of De Zuloaga's wrists.

He then moved past the woman and got off the train.

The sexual assault happened on Friday, October 31.

The British Transport Police identified De Zuloaga on CCTV footage and he was later charged and remanded in custody.

Appearing in Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, he was given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He has been placed on the sex offenders register for seven years and is banned from working with children.

Detective Constable Andrew Parkinson said: "This was repulsive behaviour by De Zuloaga on a very busy and crowded train.

"He took advantage of the space that he was in and assaulted his victim, I am pleased he has been bought to justice."

De Zuloaga was ordered to pay £120 compensation to the victim and £85 in court costs.

He was also given a 12 month supervision order.

He pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing in December.
