Merton police more than doubled their target of collecting 160 gifts from residents and businesses for needy children in the borough as part of the Met's Christmas Tree Project.
Festive delivery: Supt David Palmer arriving at Merton Civic Centre with the presents this morning
Police chief Stuart Macleod said: "I have been amazed and delighted by the response from the people and businesses of Merton to this worthwhile cause.
"I am proud that we have been able to facilitate this collection, and I particularly want to thank Police Sergeant Steve Murfin for the tireless effort and enthusiasm he has shown in co-ordinating this campaign and our Volunteer Police Cadets who gave up their time to wrap all the presents up."
Chief Supt Macleod and Supt David Palmer passed on the presents to Councillor Maxi Martin and Merton Council's director of children's services Yvette Stanley.
The presents will be delivered to children in time for Christmas day.
