A 16-year-old boy from Mitcham was given a youth rehabilitation order after being found with a five-inch serrated knife on the street.

Police arrested the teenager on October 26 in Balfour Road, Wimbledon, near South Wimbledon tube station, on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

They had swooped on the area after a fight in Dallas Chicken and Ribs just before midnight.

The boy was charged that the next day and kept in custody to appear at Wimbledon Youth Court on October 28.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £40 to the Crown Prosecution Service at a hearing at Wimbledon Youth Court last month.
