A former school bursar who raped a woman and begged a second woman he was sexual harassing to marry him is behind bars.

Kamran Ali, 45, rubbed himself up against the harassment victim, kissed her on the cheek, bought her earrings and took photos of her on his phone.

Ali, who was working at a prep school in Wimbledon, also took a strand of her hair and told her he would keep it in a book.

The Old Bailey heard last week that Ali raped the first woman at his home at around the same time as the campaign of harassment.

The harassment victim made an official complaint in September last year and a few months later another woman came forward to accuse Ali of raping her on several occasions between October last year and January this year.

He was arrested and claimed the first victim had been 'over-friendly towards him' and that sex with the second victim was consensual.

He denied sexual assault on the woman he was harassing and denied raping the first woman but was found guilty on both counts and will remain behind bars until he is sentenced next month.

The judge, Mr Recorder Stephen Farrell QC, told Ali that a prison sentence was 'inevitable' and added: "The only question is for how long."

Ali, of Middleton Road, Carshalton, was cleared of three counts of rape of the first woman between October and December last year, but convicted of one count of rape in January this year.

The court heard Ali began sexually harassing the other woman by kissing her on the cheeks in March last year.

On other occasions he pressed himself up against her from behind or put his arm around her waist.

Prosecutor Jonathan Wright said: "He took a piece of her hair from her shoulder and put it in his mouth, then telling her he would keep it in a book.

"He bought her earrings which she refused to accept and he pressed her to wear them.

"He repeatedly told her how much he liked her, he was crazy for her and she should marry him.

"He went on to her Facebook page and downloaded photos."

After he sent her a series of text messages one evening, she told him to stop because her husband was getting annoyed, the court heard.

He told her: "That's what I want. You divorce him and marry me."

The court heard in another text apologising for touching her, he wrote: "Please forgive me. I don't know what I do. I cannot stop."

Ali will be sentenced on Wednesday, December 17.
