Children went bananas for healthy eating as they learnt about the a-peeling fruit in a nutritional talk.

The event was held at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Wimbledon where children learnt where bananas come from.

The children spelt out Ecuador with bananas and got a taste of the benefits of eating the healthy fruit.

Headteacher Sarah Norville said: "The children had a fantastic time in the sessions.

"They had great fun playing the banana game and all the children enjoyed the bananas they were given to eat."

The day was held as part of Exquisite Ecuador Week, organised by Pro Ecuador, the Institute for Export and Investment Promotion in Ecuador.

Events including dinners, tastings, cuisine demonstrations in supermarkets and nutritional talks aimed to showcase Ecuadorian products.

UK Company BanaBay contributed towards the day by providing bananas for the children.

The fruit filled event was held at the school in Russell Road on Thursday 9 October.
