A new pre-school production based on conversations with grandparents will be coming to the Polka Theatre soon.
Grandad, Me and Teddy Too explores the family and celebrates the special role grandparents play in the lives of little ones.
Created especially for ages two to five years by leading early years director, Sarah Argent, the story is a perfect introduction to theatre and will inspire the imagination of a young audience with its charming story.
When Mia’s grandfather, played by Gordon Warnecke, comes to visit, he brings with him magical tales of how to hop like a kangaroo, take tea with a duck and jump aboard a magic carpet ride to the icy North Pole.
Their imaginations take them on a journey and the production features an immersive set complete with a magical winter garden, soft grass and frosty trees.
Young audiences are encouraged to bring along their own soft toy, and grandparents, to enjoy the performance with.
Director Sarah Argent said: "We received lovely stories about the joys of being a grandparent.
"One of the most fascinating discoveries was that so many children’s main contact with their grandparents, whether they live in the UK, in Europe, or much further away, is via Skype or Facetime."
