Finalists will grace the world famous All England Lawn Tennis Club tonight for an awards ceremony recognising the best businesses in the borough.

Organised by Merton Chamber of Commerce (MCC), the sell-out event will reveal winners of 16 categories, including Overall Business of the Year.

Diana Sterck, MCC chief executive, said: "These awards are a showcase for the very best businesses in the borough and I expect there will be the same palpable atmosphere of success as there has been for previous grand finals."

More than 50 shortlisted businesses and individuals will be at the event with members of staff for a night promised by organisers to be morale-boosting and a chance to let their hair down.

Students from South Thames College groups Natural Passion and The Essentials will entertain guests with music.

This year, there will also be awards for district business communities within Merton, with categories for Business of the Year in Colliers Wood, Morden, Raynes Park, Wimbledon Village and Wimbledon.

Ms Sterck said: "We are giving businesses from across the borough a chance to shine. These awards recognise the vital contribution of the very distinct parts of the borough. Together they make Merton more than the sum of its parts."
