Police have arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following a violent knife attack in Mitcham yesterday morning.

Officers continue to hunt at least three other men in connection with the attack which left a 24-year-old man in hospital with stab wounds to his head.

Police said they made the arrest in the last hour.

The 24-year-old man was found in a critical condition just after 2am in Cedars Avenue yesterday.

He is now in a stable condition at a south London hospital.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Macleod said the attackers knew their victim.

Police taped off Cedars Avenue, between Commonside East and Tamworth Lane while they investigated yesterday.
