The boyfriend of a young pregnant woman, who had been out celebrating her baby shower, has admitted running her down with his car.

Daniel Dutfield, 24, of Trinity Crescent in Tooting, killed his girlfriend Jessica Fenner, 22, of Wallington, three weeks before she was due to give birth to their baby girl.

Dutfield pleaded guilty to a single charge of causing death by dangerous driving at Croydon Crown Court yesterday.

Two months before her death, Miss Fenner posted on Facebook, saying: "Had a lovely evening with Dan Spudz Dutfield not long till us 2 become 3 can't wait to meet our beautiful baby girl xx."

Miss Fenner was run over outside an address in Glastonbury Road, St Helier, on Saturday July 5.

She was taken to hospital by emergency crews but they were unable to save her or the unborn baby. They died hours later.

In the weeks before her killing the pair had posted excited messages on Facebook about the imminent arrival of their baby daughter, including the scans, as well as of their plans to move in to a flat together.

She would later post: "So happy with my new flat can't wait to start moving stuff in."

Dutfield had been remanded in custody while the hearing progressed.
