A man wanted for a violent burglary in Wimbledon was arrested in Herefordshire on Tuesday after an intense investigation by detectives it has emerged.

A police man-hunt was launched following the attack on Paul Kohler in Kings Road, Wimbledon, on August 11.

Two men were arrested at the scene and two more were being hunted in connection with burglary which left Mr Kohler with life-changing injuries.

The first two were swiftly charged and have appeared in court.

A third man was arrested on Wednesday, August 20 on Garratt Lane in Wandsworth on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Police said today that he has been bailed for this offence pending further enquiries.

Police issued several appeals in a bid to locate a fourth suspect, Oskar Pawlowichz, 29, and he was arrested on Tuesday, September 9 charged with aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was traced to Herefordshire, where he was arrested in Leominster, in the area covered by West Mercia police.

The operation, headed by Detective Inspector Dan O’Sullivan of Merton CID, was praised by the borough commander, Chief Inspector Mark Lawrence.

In his weekly bulletin, Chief Insp Lawrence said: "I am pleased to say that after weeks of intensive investigation, Dan and his team travelled up to West Mercia this week, where with the help of the local constabulary, the final suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm.

"Dan, Dc Mike Bunn and the rest of the Crime Squad will no doubt take great satisfaction in a job very well done."

Pawel Honc, 23, of no fixed address, and Mariusz Tomaszewski, 32, of Crusoe Road, Mitcham, appeared before a judge via video link from Wandsworth prison at Kingston Crown Court.

A plea and case management hearing for the pair has been set at the same court for Wednesday, November 26.

Pawlowichz, of Pitcairn Road, Mitcham, who was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated burglary, appeared before Wimbledon magistrates on Thursday, September 11.

He will appear at Kingston Crown Court later this month.
