The National Trust is hosting a free green living event next weekend where one household will win a year's free electricity.

Described as a ‘green oasis’, visitors to Morden Hall Park will discover how air is converted to heat, as well as a behind-the-scenes tour and trail.

Children are sure to enjoy the stable yard and learning centre and there is a book shop and cafe on site.

The event is in partnership with the Good Energy and Centre for Sustainable Energy, which is keen to ensure people know how to cut their energy bills by insulating their homes.

The money saved by the conservation work of the National Trust will be injected back into further projects to preserve the countrysides and coastlines of Britain.

Edward Ikin, the trust's general manager at Morden Hall Park said: "We all want to make sure this special place can be enjoyed by everyone forever, so we're careful with our energy, water and waste across all parts of the estate.

"I'm really pleased we can show people at this event the changes we're making to become greener, and hopefully visitors will see it's actually easy to do most of these things at home too."

Staff and volunteers will be on hand and one lucky household will win a year’s supply of free electricity.
