People who care about Epsom and St Helier Hospitals are invited to the NHS trust’s AGM and open evening on Monday.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust said the meeting would highlight how it is putting patient first and improving its clinical quality and financial position.

The restaurant, at St Helier, will also be transformed into a "marketplace" where people can try on specialist equipment used by staff.

This includes a health MOT check-up, a cooking demonstration, a special suit which makes you feel old and a training dummy, which breathes and moans.

There will also be pods, dubbed 'pop-up reminiscence rooms', that create familiar surroundings for patients with dementia.

Chrisha Algaratnam, the trust’s chief executive said: "This year’s event will be even bigger and better than ever.

"We’re turning the restaurant area into a marketplace where guests can interact with all of the specialist equipment and innovative systems we have developed to put our patients first.

She added: "We have had a huge drive behind our Patient First campaign, and the Annual Public Meeting is the perfect chance for us to demonstrate this to our patients by showing just how much hard work our staff have contributed to improving patient care and working towards an even better future for our trust."

The AGM starts at 5.30pm in St Helier’s Ingredients Restaurant. The annual report will presented at 6.30pm in its Whitehall Lecture Theatre, Post Graduate Medical Centre.
