A star pupil at an independent day school in Wimbledon has achieved a record number of A*s in his GCSEs.

Kai Konishi-Dukes, a pupil at King's College School achieved 15 A* grades.

He also got an A, the top grade possible, in his Additional Maths exam.

A King's College School spokeswoman said: "Kai takes a full part in life beyond the classroom: he is a member of the Royal College of Music, he has grade 8 in his cello and is taking grade 8 in the bassoon.

"He is a major scholar at the school and is hoping to read Music at Cambridge after taking his A levels at King’s."

Nearly all the boys at the school achieved A or A* grades in their GCSEs today.

Several others achieved 12 or 13 A*s but only Kai got 14 A*s.
