An all-singing all-dancing event kicked off a diverse festival aimed at the over-fifties.

Up to 200 events are planned for the Celebrating Age Festival in September which is run by Age UK Merton and funded by Merton Council.

The launch on Wednesday, August 13 in Wimbledon’s piazza featured singing from the Fusion-Merton Multicultural Group and a Gyrokinesis dance demonstration.

Sarah Foss, festival co-ordinator for Age UK Merton, said; "It is going to be very exciting.

"There are a lot of events and there will be something for everyone.

"Life begins at 50 so let’s get involved and have some fun.

"It’s family friendly but it is funded for the over fifties."
