Police have new powers to disperse people causing anti-social behaviour in North Mitcham and fine or imprison them if they return within 24 hours.

Wimbledon Guardian:

North Mitcham dispersal zone boundaries.

Groups of two or more people causing anti-social behaviour can be ordered by police to leave the area after a dispersal zone stretching from the southern end of Figges Marsh to Tooting was imposed.

Offenders caught returning will face up to three months' imprisonment or a fine of £2,500.

Merton Police said they introduced the dispersal zone in response to residents' complaints of persistent anti-social behaviour in their area.

The dispersal order was introduced last Saturday and will run until Sunday, February 8, 2015.

This needs to be extended to the whole of Mitcham not just the Figges Marsh area. Have they seen the scumbags that frequent the Fair Green with their antisocial behavior. They are supposed to be spending a lot of money to get people to come into Mitcham. When they get here they will take one look at all the Fair Green trash hanging around and never come back. Unfortunately I live in the doss hole called Mitcham so I have to come back every day.

Will be interesting to see if this makes any difference at all. When the weather is warm in the evenings the Halfords MOT centre normally has at least 10 cars parked with music blaring and lads standing around drinking. It can be quite intimidating. And the groups that hang round Figges Marsh drinking and then leaving drinks cans all over the place. I have yet to see a policeman in North Mitcham and I have lived here over a year now.
