Judy Murray was on hand to coach young tennis stars at the All England Club (AELTC) just hours before Novak Djokovic’s win in Wimbledon on Sunday.

Ms Murray joined AELTC head coach Dan Bloxham and his wife Lizzie Bloxham as part of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative (WJTI) where young players were invited to test their serve, forehands and backhands and rally in a one hour session.

Members of the audience got the chance to hit a few balls with Ms Murray and some young players as well in an interactive section of the morning.

The youngest on court 19 was just three years old, ranging to 16-years-old.

Among the proud parents looking on was Steven Elizondo, of Southey Road, Wimbledon, who was watching his eight-year-old son Miguel play.

Mr Elizondo said: "It is amazing to see him play here, we are unbelievably proud of him."

Speaking after the session, Ms Murray said: "The great thing about mini tennis, with the smaller rackets and lighter balls, is you can start them at four, five, six years-old and help them develop their skills.

"The important thing is giving them the opportunity to try and having somewhere in the area to take it further.

"That is one of the great things about the All England Club, it has a great outreach programme."

The session was held on Sunday, July 6 at the All England Club in Wimbledon on the day of the men’s finals which saw Novak Djokovic take the title.

The WJTI community tennis initiative is run by the All England Club. The WJTI coaches, led by Mr Bloxham, visit schools in Merton and Wandsworth, introducing them to tennis and offering players the chance to develop their skills.
