A Girlguiding volunteer from Wimbledon has embarked on a 6,000-mile trip across the globe to have her say on the future of guiding.

Caroline Davis will be leading Girlguiding’s delegation, the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women - at the 35th World Conference in Hong Kong.

Caroline, also a Guide Leader at 1st Wimbledon Guides, joined more than 600 delegates from 145 countries across the world at the five-day conference which started yesterday.

As well as immersing herself in Chinese culture and meeting new friends from across the international Guiding community, Caroline will help decide the future path of the World Association and ensure its 10 million members continue to develop their fullest potential.

Caroline said: “The World Conference is a truly unique event bringing together representatives from the 145 countries that are part of world Guiding.

“It will be a fantastic opportunity to see how Guiding members from diverse backgrounds share the same commitment to enabling girls and young women to fulfil their potential.”

Caroline has previously trained Guide Leaders in Madagascar, run activities for children in a remote village in Pakistan and hiked up mountains in Switzerland with guiding.

The event has been organised by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Caroline is Girlguiding’s most senior volunteer in international guiding.

It will take place over five days until Thursday, July 10.
