Police are investigating after a 50-year-old woman was bitten by a dog at Mitcham Carnival.

The Commonside Trust volunteer had gone for a walk around Three King's Piece after selling greetings cards on the stall when the attack took place at about 4pm.

Naomi Martin, Commonside Trust director, said: "She had stepped away from a big dog coming towards her and was bitten by a smaller one tethered behind her.

"It was quite a bad bite, shredding her jeans, puncturing her leg and there was a lot of blood.

"She went to the St John's ambulance tent and later to hospital." Police were called to the scene at 4.10pm on Saturday, June 14.

No arrests have been made and no dog has been seized.

The Commonside Trust is a community development centre based in Pollards Hill, Mitcham.
