A former police constable has avoided jail after admitting making indecent images of children.
Dominick Akinlade, 37, a former police officer working in Merton, appeared at Southwark Crown Court today having admitted to five counts of making indecent images of children at a previous hearing.
Akinlade was found to be in possession of a number of indecent images of children on his home computer which he had downloaded from the internet - an offence which constitutes ‘making’ images under the Protection of Children Act.
He resigned from the MPS in October last year after his arrest.
None of the images were on MPS computers.
The judge handed Akinlade a six month jail sentence but opted to suspend it for two years.
