Youngsters at a Mitcham school are celebrating being named seventh best in London for Key Stage two results.
A banner showcasing the achievements of St Mark’s Primary School in St Mark’s Road, sits proudly at the school after an unveiling assembly.
Headteacher Marion Standing said the school serves an area with very high social deprivation, and 42 per cent of pupils receive free school meals.
A total of 75 per cent of the school community is from an ethnic minority with 59 per cent having English as an additional language.
A school spokeswoman said: "We came top in the borough and seventh in London.
"We are absolutely over the moon, staff have worked very hard.
"We target them early and give them the support they require.
"We have a lot of stigma about Mitcham schools but we have worked extremely hard to prove the children in Mitcham have a right to do well."
A banner celebrating the results was unveiled on Thursday, March 20 at the school.
