A charity walk on Wimbledon Common has raised over £3,000 for the Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice.
There was a festive atmosphere on Thursday as more than 150 people, including families with dogs and Nordic walkers, turned up for a sponsored walk around the common.
A group of 11 pupils from Northcote Lodge School in Wandsworth were particularly successful in their fundraising efforts, raising over £1,000 between them.
The walk was such a success the organisers, the Wimbledon Friends of Shooting Star Chase, are hoping to make it an annual event.
The Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospices, situated in Guildford and Hampton, care for children with life-limiting conditions.
It helps over 600 families, including at least 60 from the Merton area.
