A celebration of high tea and cake marked Morden WI’s 95th birthday.

Established in 1919 this group of women is still going strong, having seen in its most recent birthday with a party and performance from singer, Michaela Kent.

Audrey Evans, 77, who has been a member for 15 years helped create a celebration cake with President Susan Orworthy for the occasion.

Around 45 members were there to attend the party, but sadly the eldest member was unable to attend.

Lilian Grumbridge, 94, who has been a member for around 50 years plays the piano when the group sings Jeruselem.

Mrs Evans, whose first meeting with the WI was on its 80th birthday party said: "We had party tea, sandwiches, and trifle and for afters fancy cakes made by members."

The celebrations were held at St Lawrence Parish Hall where the group meets every second Tuesday of the month.
