Children, councillors and the Mayor of Merton gathered for a flag raising ceremony to mark Commonwealth Day.
Mayor of Merton, Councillor Krystal Miller, raised the flag at 10am on Monday, in front of children from Morden, Abbotsbury and Poplar primary schools, residents and councillors.
A specially written Commonwealth affirmation was read out by the Mayor and Deputy Lieutenant for London The Rt Hon Sir John Wheeler read out a message from the Queen.
Bagpipe player Major Tony Kelly played before and after the flag was raised to mark this year’s Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow.
