Dress-up and ceremony were the order of the day for pupils celebrating their school's 90th birthday.
Wimbledon Chase primary school in Merton Hall Road dedicated a full school day to marking the anniversary of its foundation on Friday, March 7.
Mayor Krystal Miller and Councillor Stephen Alambritis, leader of the council, attended morning assembly to hear pupils' renditions of the 'Wombles of Wimbledon Common', sing the school hymn and award a poetry prize.
Winners of a competition to design a new school flag were also announced, with one winning design raised on the school's flagpole later in the day.
Sue Tomes, headteacher, said: "It's such an amazing school. We are not going to all be around for 100 so we thought let's celebrate the next big one.
"It was a chance to celebrate the school but also have a great time and take stock of what we have."
Founded in 1924 as Wimbledon County Girls School, the school became a middle school in 1969 and has been a primary since 2001.
Mrs Tomes, who dressed as the school's first headmistress, Miss Borthwick, revived historic traditions for celebrating the school's birthday, including wearing a sprig of pussy willow or daffodils.
Pupils and staff dressed in costumes representing a decade from the 1920's and parents donated cakes for birthday parties in every classroom.
Other highlights of the day included an army march, led by year five pupils in WWII outfits and 'breaking the bounds', a walk around the school's perimeter by older pupils.
