Friends lead tributes to Zane Phillips who died at Wimbledon Station

Tributes have begun to come in for Zane Phillips, a 40-year-old who was fatally hit by a train at Wimbledon station.

Friends and colleagues have paid their respects to the Wimbledon resident who passed away on Saturday, February 22.

He was struck by a train at Wimbledon station, something police officers are not treating as suspicious.

Dan O’Rourke, an executive producer at production company Not To Scale, said in a message on Twitter: "You can rest in peace now my old friend Zane Anthony Phillips 06-11-73 / 22-02-14."

Other users posted messages of support, including Missjoflynn who said: "I’m so incredibly sorry. I’m shocked and really saddened to hear this tragic news."

Lucyadavenport posted: "I’m so sorry to read this terribly sad news – so shocking and tragic. So much love – I can’t believe it – I’m stunned – it’s so sad.

Phild500 wrote: "Very sadly Zane took his own life last Saturday."

According to an online profile, Mr Phillips worked as a business analyst in the financial sector at Thomson Reuters in London.

A Thomson Reuters spokesperson said: "Zane Phillips worked at Thomson Reuters through a third party firm.

"Our thoughts go out to his loved ones and colleagues at this difficult time."

Colleague and friend Sapna Pajpani said: "I feel sick thinking that he is no more. 

"He was my colleague at work but became my close friend. Always smiling and happy to help me whenever. RIP Zane Philips."

Police confirmed Mr Phillips had died at Wimbledon train station on Saturday, February 22.

An inquest was opened and adjourned.
