A man hit by a train at Wimbledon station has been named today by police as 41-year-old Zane Phillips from Wimbledon.

The emergency services were alerted after he was struck by a train on Saturday, February 22 at about 10pm.

The death is not being treated as suspicious by police and an inquest has been opened and adjourned and a file prepared for the coroner.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that the man who was struck by a train at Wimbledon station on Saturday, February 22 has been named as Zane Phillips, 41, from Wimbledon.

"The incident was reported to BTP at 10.06pm, and is currently being treated as non-suspicious."

Paramedics and officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and the Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a person being struck by the Weymouth to London Waterloo service.
