A pensioner has been murdered after a suspected burglary went wrong in a quiet residential street in Tooting.
A man believed to be in his 70s was found at an address in Selkirk Road, off Tooting High Street, at 11.45am this morning.
Police believe two men forced entry into the house and started threatening the occupants.
It is then understood that one of the residents collapsed but further details have not been released.
The elderly man was pronounced dead at 12.53pm.
A description of the burglars has not been released but some local residents have suugested it was a "group of young boys".
A spokesman for the Met Police said: "Officers, including firearms officers, and London Ambulance Service attended.
"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Next of kin have been informed."
The Homicide and Major Crime Command is investigating and no arrests have been made.
