Another award could be added to the council's haul as its leader is shortlisted in a top category.
Council leader Councillor Stephen Alambritis could scoop the Leader of the Year award in a national scheme to recognise and reward councillors who play a significant role in their communities.
Coun Alambritis, ward councillor for Ravensbury, will go up against six others for the award at the C’llr Achievement Awards.
Councillor Stephen Alambritis has been leader since 2010, and has served as Ravensbury ward councillor since a by-election in 2003.
The council currently holds two national accolades.
The first one is the Municipal Journal Awards with Merton scooping the top prize as the Best Achieving Council in the country.
The second one is The Guardian newspaper’s public service awards for Public Servant of the Year handed out to Merton’s Christine Parsloe.
The annual C’llr Achievement Awards are held by the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) and winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, February 25.
