A detective admitted being in posession of cocaine yesterday after he was arrested on duty in Wimbledon.

Detective Constable Ian Payne, 45, a serving police officer based at Hammersmith and Fulham appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine on Tuesday, January 28.

He was given a three month curfew. For the first two months he must stay at his home address between 7pm to 7am and for the final month on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 7pm and 7am.

He was also ordered to pay £155 costs.

Det Con Payne, an officer based within the Specialist Crime and Operations, was arrested while on duty at about 2pm on November 1, 2013, in Wimbledon.

He is currently suspended pending a misconduct hearing.

Ben Paul, 33, was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

Paul admitted the offence and was bailed by the same court at a separate hearing yesterday.

He will be sentenced on Tuesday, February 18.
